Meet James. Creative Studio Manager.

Reading Head Office

When I came to Primark, I was looking for a fresh challenge, something that was a little bit different and out of my comfort zone. I definitely found it here – it was a world that was completely new to me.

I've always been interested in fashion, but hadn't really looked into working within that field. However, it’s been fascinating to come and join the business. I’ve now been here for two and a half years and I’m involved in all elements of campaign production and delivery.

An international impact

We were in Brussels a couple of weeks ago looking at window installations in our Rue Neuve store and we're going to Paris in a couple of weeks to look at some challenges over there. One of the great things about working here is the teamwork mentality. My team and I rely on a great network of people working in Europe and the US to assist us, from both within the brand comms team and the wider business.

Becoming a better me

Training is one of the things that's really good about Primark. It's a very nurturing environment – from conversation training to personal profiling and team building, there’s a great development programme. Whilst some elements may not be directly related to your role, It's all 100% related to developing you as a person. In two and a half years working at Primark, I've learned and developed myself more than in the previous five years of my career. I’ve been given more responsibility, flexibility and training support and I find it a really inspiring environment in which to work.

An inspiring time

There’s a fantastic team dynamic at Primark, from helping out others and sharing ideas to dealing with the workload. From that perspective, I feel privileged to work in an environment that is so creative, functional and supportive. I've got a brilliant team who are incredibly capable and immersed in the brand. And I've got managers who are inspiring and supportive.

Recently, we had the opportunity to spend time with two of the most influential men in retail, Paul Marchant and John Lyttle. They did a Q&A session for the creative department, where they talked about the future of Primark, the importance of creative and how impressed they with the quality of work we are producing. People left feeling really inspired.

In two years working at Primark, I've developed myself more than in the previous five years of my career.

Developing a growing team

I'm really proud of the studio team we are developing and how, as individuals, they can grow, excel themselves and really make their mark on the business. It’s a new and rapidly expanding team and it’s amazing to be a part of a development process that will really mould how the Primark creative department looks – for now and going forward. It’s an exciting time for us, and the brand.

Other reasons to join

Your experience at Primark is about so much more than your job. It’s also about our people and our culture. Our beliefs as a business and our aims for the future. It’s about all the exciting, empowering, amazing things that make us who we are – and you who you are.
