Purpose of the Role:
As Compliance Manager you will work with relevant functional teams across the Primark global business. You will be responsible for mitigating data protection risk and other general compliance areas while educating your customer groups on the importance of compliance. This flexible role can be based in either of our beautiful offices in Dublin or Reading reporting into the Global Compliance Manager. You will be joining a fast paced, commercial environment, with the opportunity to work with key stakeholders within the Primark business.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Data Protection
- Manage, develop and maintain the ongoing data protection compliance programme
- Manage and continuously develop key data protection processes for breach management and data subject access requests
- Maintain requirements for compliance with data protection laws and support senior management in defining strategic actions to support compliance
- Assess projects for GDPR risks, building in data privacy considerations for projects that process personal data
- Promote awareness across the business of GDPR compliance obligations and advise on procedures and policies
- Supervise the completion of Data Privacy Impact Assessments for projects with significant personal data elements and escalate matters appropriately.
- Identify and support the resolution of risks and issues as they arise
General Compliance
- Lead and develop training programme for current and new employees across 13 regions
- Manage and develop the compliance communications strategy and coordinate accompanying campaigns, key programme updates and materials
- Monitor and understand key trends and issues both internally and externally, and identify opportunities for improvement in processes
- Keep up to date with legal changes and regulator guidance, communicating regularly key internal stakeholders
- Manage and maintain and develop the internal risk champion community
- Manage the compliance team and responsible for the development of the team’s overall responsibilities, ensuring that the team meets all requirements and deadlines relating to ongoing compliance activities
- Responsible for ensuring the Legal Compliance function is adequately trained and informed
- Responsible for activity area within Legal Compliance including day to day organisation of the work of the team and subject matter expert on all activities and processes
- Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with internal customers, suppliers and partners
- Establish KPI and other performance measures appropriate to area of responsibility
- Liaise when necessary with internal and external auditors
- Review of current processes to ensure best practice is maintained and documented
- Assist the Global Compliance Manager in developing career planning sessions with team members including coaching and development
- Recruitment, training and development of new team members
- Develop team structure and roles with appropriate training
- Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders associated with the team
Skills & Experience:
Essential:
- 5+ years of People Management experience in previous roles
- Experience of advising on Compliance topics across multiple jurisdictions
- Experience managing data protection programmes and matters within an international organisation including reviewing new market initiatives, data subject requests, incidents and breaches
- Hold a recognised qualification in Data Protection such as CIPP, CDPO, CIPM or equivalent.

- Ability to analyse, evaluate and recommend on risk at strategic level
