Data Insights & Analytics Manager

Role: Data Analytics & Insights Manager

Purpose of role: The mission for the Business Intelligence & Analytics team is to enable and empower our partners across the business to use high impact data & analytics tools, technologies and methodologies to drive business insights & improve business outcomes.
As the Data Analytics & Insights manager you should be an ambitious and effective communicator, who has the ability to drive insights into actions. You will need to mine multiple sources of data, derive actionable insights and translate complex results into simple conclusions that will empower the business to take action.
You will be responsible for the strategic design and progression of visualisation and analytics, leading across the BI & Analytics team and supporting the development and standards of visualisation and analytics within our business functions.

Reports to: BI Manager (Dublin)

Key Responsibilities:
Lead and Collaborate on Visualisation & Analytical Programs
  • With a combination of analytical expertise, data and system knowledge and business insight, you will answer and anticipate critical business questions and opportunities and deliver insights to the business in ways that make significant impacts
  • Collaborate with and deliver analytic insights across multiple business domains (Finance, Retail, Planning & Space, P&C etc.), as well as to the Primark Leadership team
  • Drive and advance data visualisation and analytics strategy
  • Lead a team including business and visualisation analysts in the delivery of advanced solutions for high impact visualisations and analytic projects
  • Demonstrate data visualization, analytics and BI platform tools / languages (e.g. Alteryx, Tableau, Microsoft Power BI, IBM Cognos, R, Python) in order to grasp the busines insights from our wealth of data
  • Own the tooling and visualisation standards and governance continually driving for improvements
Hub & Spoke Community
  • Evolve Primark’s hub and spoke model, aim of which is to gather business requirements & key business questions to be addressed via BI & visualisation solutions
  • Promote advancement of skillsets and capabilities of spoke members, e.g. via technology champions
  • Build strong cross functional relationships and support initiatives ensuring adherence to standards and protocols for best practise

Enterprise Analytics Platform (EAP)
  • Input to the evolution of the EAP and the advancement of analytical and visualisation tooling both current and potential future tooling for Primark
  • Oversee improvements in software functionality and work closely with partners to understand the optimal options to support our analytics strategy
Team Management
  • Monitor work of analyst(s) and ensure effective implementation of projects to achieve all objectives
  • Maintain close relationship with our vendors to support with day to day and future visualisation and analytical needs
  • Promote a culture of enhanced performance through the use of data, analytics and visualisation

Essential knowledge, skills and experience:
  • A Bachelor or Master’s Degree in a quantitative field (Operation Research, Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Math, Economics, Statistics, Analytics, Management/Business Information Systems (or related degree)
  • 10+ years of demonstrable experience in related field, along with Team Management & Leadership experience
  • Strong capability in capturing data requirements to build dashboards for large scale programmes, through working with a broad range of stakeholders, running workshops etc
  • Experience conducting quantitative and qualitative analysis with visualisation and analytics techniques to solve defined business problems
  • Strong communications skills including the ability to deliver a clear story to influence agreement to your recommendations with data and insights
  • Self-motivated to work with diverse business scenarios, handling multiple priorities and have a business & consultancy mind-set, while technically (data) savvy
  • Passion about discovering new things and ability to learn quickly
  • Proven experience in analytics and BI platforms e.g. Alteryx, Tableau, Microsoft Power BI, IBM Cognos
  • Advanced SQL skills desirable
  • Demonstration of programming language experience, e.g. R, Python desirable
  • Previous experience in large scale database warehousing preferably Teradata
  • Up to date on large scale data, BI & visualisation technologies, trends and practices
