Enterprise Integration Architect

Role: Integration Architect

Purpose of role: Design integration patterns, Define and manage integration standards and coach project teams and systems integrators in design, build, test and management of integrations between solutions.

Location: Dublin or Reading however regular travel to Dublin will be a requirement of this role

Duration: Permanent
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provides thought leadership on integration strategy, development models and technologies.
  • Development of integration roadmaps for the whole business and designs and solutions at technical level.
  • Define, design and implement standard integration patterns, Define the overall integration models, so they will be clearly usable and communicate them to stakeholders. Provides guidance to multi-functional teams through project planning and other large collaboration efforts
  • Select and implement integration tools and technologies
  • Own the end to End Integration development process standards and methodology.
  • Work with projects and programmes to define the integration strategy for their solution.
  • Ensure integration needs are clearly identified early on in projects.
  • Coach teams in best way to design and implement interfaces
  • QA of integrations - Oversee integration design, definition of ‘web service contracts’, and implementation of such services ensuring that solution will meet business requirements. Providing Technical design assurance for new project and technical system upgrades and enhancements for both the business and suppliers.
  • Ensure delivery partners / system integrators adhere to Primark architectural principles and integration patterns.
  • Resolve integration related design issues in collaboration with Primark and 3rd party teams.
  • Manage engagement with different parties to make sure we have a fully integrated and working set of integrations.
  • Provide early alerts when plans are at risk of not being met.
  • Ensure message/file integration quality, readiness and integrity are in place for a successful cutover of integrations.
  • Keep up to date with developments in integration architecture, design and delivery and leverage any opportunity to drive efficiency and quality improvement.

Key Interactions and engagement with as part of role:
  • Work with key business stakeholders to ensure that the potential for integrations is understood and that processes are put in place to manage issues in integrations.
  • Work with Service delivery to put in place effective integration management processes
  • Provide integration Knowledge input to technology teams
  • Work with Data architects and Data quality teams to ensure data is of sufficient quality and management processes are in place.
  • Work with BI team to define best way to get data in and out of BI layer.
  • Work with solution architects to provide specialist integration advice for solutions.
  • Ensure integrations meet GDPR and data privacy requirements.
  • Engage with industry experts and vendors to track developments in the area.
Essential knowledge, education, skills and experience:
  • Outstanding relationship building and presentation skills, with experience of partnering with business and advising all parties involved in integrations.
  • Ability to assess when new technologies are suitable for use in our environment.
  • Track record of a successful delivery of integration workstream on a complex programme. Experience working as an enterprise integration architect within large transformation programmes.
  • Experience designing integrations with and between cloud solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience integrating with Legacy applications with limited integration capabilities.
  • Demonstrates a deep understanding of integration design and services build work including typical challenges and mitigations
  • Experience manage Integrations in service
  • 5+ years of experience leading Integration Projects, including hands on experience in design and delivery of Service Oriented Architectures, Managed File Transfers and MicroServices in an industry dealing with high volumes
  • Should be familiar with SOAP and REST frameworks,
  • Experience in Cloud Integration solutions.
  • Experience in API definition and management
  • Preferable good knowledge of JAVA EE frameworks, Oracle integration technologies and the IBM Integration Bus and messaging services for WebSphere.
  • Proficiency with Message Modelling, Processing and Patterns, Messaging Security and Managed File Transfer.

  • Highly organised, detail-oriented, possessing the ability to effectively prioritise projects and deliverables whilst meeting deadlines set by management.
  • Excellent planning and organisation skills, ability to multi-task, plan and prioritise work schedule for self and team and work within agreed timescales.
  • Excellent attention to detail and an ability to analyse and interrogate high volumes of data as well as demonstrating an ability to focus on higher level overview.
  • Proven ability in managing sensitive matters whilst ensuring all Primark information remains confidential to the business.
  • Be a collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal/communication skills, while demonstrating high levels of emotional intelligence and possess the ability to push back with professionalism. Proven ability in developing effective working relationships across all levels of the organisation.
  • Operates with a high level of integrity, diplomacy, tact and professionalism.
  • Effective and persuasive presentation skills, including the ability to present complex information in an understandable manner to all areas of the business.
  • Ability to lead, influence and coach others
  • Sound judgement, unquestionable ethics and integrity with high degree of transparency and trust
