Finance Manager - Sales & Margin

Role: Finance Manager – Sales & Margin -12 month FTC
This is an opportunity to join our Global Finance Team in Dublin. Our Finance team is home to over 200 Finance professionals. You will have the opportunity to have autonomy and exposure to exciting areas of our business including many countries. You will be expected to bring a commercial mindset to this role providing finance support to the Primark’s international markets as required.
Purpose of role: Responsibility for sales & margin accounting and financial controls for the Primark Group
Reports to: Finance Manager – Stock, Margin & Strategic Projects
Location: Dublin
Key Responsibilities:
  • Management role with responsibility for leading a team focused on preparation and analysis of robust periodic financial and management accounts
  • End to end responsibility for sales and margin accounting for the Primark Group. This includes both intake margin and margin reserves
  • Completion of country and group margin analysis each period and additional analysis as required
  • Involvement in technical financial accounting advice, researching the impact of accounting policy decisions on the business and advising of relevant changes.
  • Support the international & compliance team by ensuring sales and margin accounting adhere to local GAAP and IFRS requirements in all countries in which we operate
  • Margin and Sales lead on a number of strategic projects within the business
  • Support the business on finance queries for areas such as concessions and giftcards
  • Significant cross-functional working across Finance (mainly tax and FP&A), Buying & Merchandising, New Business Development and other areas of the business
  • Review and challenge of periodic processes to identify opportunities to drive efficiencies through automation or revised processes
  • Ensure proper books and records are held in all jurisdictions and are in accordance with local requirements (tax, accounting, legal etc)
  • Any other tasks and ad hoc projects as required by management
  • Leading and management of direct reports including qualified and trainee accountants.
Essential knowledge, skills and experience:
  • Accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CPA or Equivalent)
  • 6 years post qualification experience preferred (experience working in or with retail industry an advantage)
  • 2+ years managing a team
  • Big 4 background or a number of years industry experience preferred
  • Margin experience essential
  • Excellent Project Management skills – demonstrated ability to manage projects and teams
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) – ability to present complex information in an understandable manner and communicate to all levels within the business including those from non-accounting backgrounds
  • First-rate planning and organisation skills, ability to multi-task, plan and prioritise work schedule and work within agreed timescales
  • Ability to work under pressure in a demanding environment
  • Commercial awareness with an ability to demonstrate a sound knowledge of wider business factors
  • Excellent attention to detail while also demonstrating an ability to focus on higher level overview
  • Demonstrated initiative with strong work ethic
  • English is essential and other European language would be an advantage
