Reporting and Analytics Manager

Purpose of role
The People Reporting & Analytics Manager will be the subject matter expert for the People & Culture (P&C) function and will be responsible for collating and analysing available data to derive actionable insights and translate complex results into simple conclusions that will empower P&C to take action.
The People Reporting & Analytics manager will ensure that every analytics venture, from analysis to intervention to action, results in a return on investment for the P&C function.

Key Responsibilities
Vision & Strategy
  • Provision of a clear vision & strategy in how to lead P&C toward a data-driven and insight-led culture, resulting in actionable insights that drive significant business impacts
  • Work with P&C leadership team and business leaders to promote the use of data & analytics to support workforce decision-making, all the time aligning with talent strategy
  • Aligning P&C leaders around common global metrics and collaboratively making being ‘insight led’ a pillar of P&C strategy
  • You will be the strategic data & analytics ‘Trusted Advisor’ partner to the P&C function and will have the ability to talk about data and analytics in a way that shows your stakeholders ‘what’s in it for them’

Lead and Collaborate on Visualisation & Analytical Programs
  • With a combination of analytical expertise, data and system knowledge and business insight, you will answer and anticipate critical P&C business questions and opportunities and deliver insights to the business in ways that make significant impacts
  • Collaborate with and deliver relevant P&C analytics insights across multiple business domains (Finance, Retail, Planning & Space etc.), as well as to the Primark Leadership team
  • Drive and advance P&C data visualisation and advanced analytics strategy
  • Lead a team including data analyst in the delivery of data solutions
  • Demonstrate expertise in data visualization, analytics and BI platform tools / languages (e.g. Alteryx, Tableau, Microsoft Power BI, R, Python) in order to grasp the busines insights from our wealth of data
  • Experience with Data Science / Machine Learning Platforms (e.g. Alteryx, SAS, Databricks, IBM SPSS etc.) advantageous

Enterprise Analytics Platform (EAP)
  • Identify and support the business in defining data requirements to enable P&C analytics within the Enterprise Analytics Platform
  • Support the planning, defining and validation of Primark’s People Systems strategy to ensure that workforce data is embedded in the strategy; scope and define data information requirements and validate any data migration exercises
  • Provide innovative thought leadership to both the P&C and BI functions and contribute to the creation of points of view on analytics offerings and insights
  • People Reporting and Analytics Delivery
  • Work closely with customers & stakeholders on key projects to assess the data formulation process including identification of attributes, exploratory data analysis, data transformation, and temporal layout and making subsequent recommendations as to the analytical approach
  • Manage reporting and analytics projects and project work streams through the Full Project Management Lifecycle
  • Facilitate comprehensive end-to-end testing to ensure user acceptance of solutions and quality of implementation
  • Communicate and influence stakeholders within the organisation to support the system adoption and evolution, including the maintenance of operating procedures used by Technical Operations for first line customer support
  • Escalation point for major problems or incidents; driving 2nd and 3rd line troubleshooting and problem solving with the SME’s on their team

Team Management and Relationship Building
  • Build a relationship with application vendors, and other third-party providers to ensure they have a deep understanding of our business and validate the systems design and solution to match our business requirements
  • Closely align to people systems team and others including payroll to ensure accuracy and consistency of data formats used as inputs for example for payroll processing
  • Monitor work of data analyst to ensure effective implementation of projects to achieve all objectives

Essential knowledge, skills and experience
  • A Bachelor or Master’s Degree in a quantitative field (Operation Research, Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Math, Economics, Statistics, Analytics, Management/Business Information Systems (or related degree)
  • 10+ years of demonstrable experience in related field
  • Demonstrable experience in a HR Reporting & Analytics role with a broad understanding of appropriate people analytics trends, as well as current and emerging technology trends and developments in the HR sector advantageous
  • Strong capability in capturing data requirements to build dashboards for large scale programmes, through working with a broad range of stakeholders, running workshops etc
  • Experience conducting quantitative and qualitative analysis with visualisation and analytics techniques to solve defined business problems
  • Strong communications skills including the ability to deliver a clear story to influence agreement to your recommendations with data and insights
  • Self-motivated to work with diverse business scenarios, handling multiple priorities and have a business & consultancy mind-set, while technically (data) savvy
  • Proven experience in analytics and BI platforms e.g. Alteryx, Tableau, Microsoft Power BI
  • Advanced SQL skills
  • Demonstration of programming language experience, e.g. R, Python desirable
  • Previous experience in large scale database warehousing preferably Teradata
  • Up to date on large scale data, BI & visualisation technologies, trends and practices
  • Experience with Data Science / Machine Learning Platforms (e.g. Alteryx, SAS, Databricks, IBM SPSS etc.) advantageous

  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to lead, influence and coach others.
  • Proven ability in managing sensitive matters whilst ensuring all Primark information remains confidential to the business.
  • Excellent attention to detail and an ability to analyse and interrogate high volumes of data as well as demonstrating an ability to focus on higher level overview.
  • Be a collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal/communication skills, while demonstrating high levels of emotional intelligence and possess the ability to push back with professionalism. Proven ability in developing effective working relationships across all levels of the organisation.
  • Effective and persuasive presentation skills, including the ability to present complex information in an understandable manner to all areas of the business.
  • Sound judgement, unquestionable ethics and integrity with high degree of transparency and trust
  • Passionate about delivering Best in Class visualisations and analytics and applying previous knowledge to deliver excellent outcomes
