Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Owns the portfolio performance processes and budget planning on behalf of the Product Domain to increase the pace and value of delivery through modern portfolio management practices (Lean).
  • Oversee delivery of complex programmes with multiple business and technical risks that will impact the success of key business priorities. Validate the feasibility of transformation plans, commercially and organisationally.
  • Transform and optimise management processes within the Product Domain to improve efficiency and effectiveness – leaning on best practices and standards set by the central Portfolio Management CoE
  • Collaborate effectively with other Portfolio Business Managers across domains to ensure consistent benefits tracking and reporting for programmes that span several Product Domains
  • Record, present and track all commercial and financial information across the Product Domain
  • Work closely with Strategic Vendor Manager to support Product Domain on major strategic engagements with third party vendors to maximise value from vendor agreements
  • Integrate and manage the overall portfolio across the Product Domain ensuring business value delivered to stakeholders is maximised
  • Understand the strategic direction & transformation themes for the Portfolios and the significance of the Epics being proposed in order to participate fully in prioritisation, ensuring that the investment in a portfolio delivers the required value as defined in the organisational strategy
  • Ensure adherence to technology portfolio processes and guardrails set by the Technology Strategy & Performance team
  • Drive value by producing informative commentary and reports on Portfolio health and quality for discussion at Portfolio Reviews, highlight risks, exceptions and actions required - across delivery metrics, costs and value
  • Collaborate with stakeholders inside and outside of Tech the Portfolio Business Manager provides assurance and oversight that investment choices reflect a balance of customer value and other strategic drivers
  • Act as definitive Finance subject matter expert for team; provide guidance as to financial statement interpretation, accounting standards
  • Partnering closely with engineering and product senior stakeholders and their teams, the Portfolio Business Manager seeks to increase the pace and value of delivery through modern portfolio management practices.
  • Seek to drive efficiency and value-add through scalable processes.

Skills & Experience:
  • 8+ years in a Technology organisation delivering transformation
  • 3+ years IT cost management / commercial evaluation / budget management / forecasting / capacity management experience
  • 2+ years of vendor management and governance
  • An appropriate degree, equivalent qualification or experience
  • Possess Commercial and Financial management skills
  • Have experience in Agile and Lean Practices
