Maintenance Technician

Role: Maintenance Technician
Purpose of role: To support the depot by ensuring the site is safe and efficient and all defects are corrected to a high standard.
Reports to: Automation and Engineering Manager
Based: UK Based, Islip Depot

Key Responsibilities:
  • To support the depot by ensuring that the site is safe and efficient, by being reactive and proactive to the tasks that are needed to be completed.
  • On a daily basis undertake various activities of planned preventative maintenance and weekly testing.
  • Completing sprinkler testing, racking inspection and repairs, generator testing, emergency lighting testing, caddy car servicing
  • Completing shower/Legionella testing.
  • Undertaking repairs as and when required through job requests from a number of stakeholders
  • Prioritise system faults
  • To comply with Health & Safety legislation at all times
  • To ensure quality of output at all times
  • To accurately record all work undertaken
Knowledge, skills experience:
  • ONC in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Previous experience of maintenance in a warehouse
  • A working understanding of Mechanical, Electrical & Electronic technical manuals & drawings
  • Basic understanding of control systems and techniques
  • Working at height
  • Racking inspection and repairs
  • PC literacy
  • Understanding of pre-preventive maintenance (PPM) schedules
  • Attention to detail and accuracy are essential
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Strong interpersonal skills - diplomatic, discreet, trustworthy and have the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with all levels both within the organisation and in the external environment.
  • A flexible approach to work and be capable of handling multiple priorities in a fast paced environment
  • Carry out any other relevant duties as requested by your Line Manager.

Health and safety responsibilities
  • To only operate machinery on which you have been fully trained/licensed
  • To report any near misses or accidents that may occur
  • Responsible for maintaining and complying with company Health and Safety standards thereby minimising the risk to yourself and any other persons
  • Ensure that all Health & Safety/Security policies and procedures are complied with and fully maintained.
