Enterprise Data Architect

Job Purpose:
To provide overall leadership for our enterprise data architecture within Primark. The Enterprise Data Architect will hold accountability for how we collect, structure and use our data across the organisation.
Your team will grow the value of our data and will design the data products that we need to achieve our goals. You will provide leadership and support our agile data design activities, including master data management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the Enterprise Data team, including direct reports and a matrix-managed build
  • Establish a Master Data Management capability; support the decommissioning of related legacy applications that provide similar capabilities.
  • Grow the Enterprise Data team so that they have the capability required
  • Act as single point of contact and accountability for enterprise data as a strategic asset within our organisation.
  • Establish common set of enterprise data-related tools and associated best practices for use across the group.
  • Elicit strategic business priorities from the various business customers so that we have a unified and coherent understanding of how the organisation will gain business value from our data product(s).
  • Prioritise the business need. Drive delivery of the backlog, in conjunction with the relevant product owners, providing clear communication as necessary
  • Collaboration across the architecture team and the Data & Analytics team
  • Strategic Information Management approach and guidance for Business Teams
  • Work alongside equivalent technology-focused Enterprise Architects to stay informed of and evaluate technologies and solutions in the context of the business' strategic roadmap and information needs, and to select and promote technologies and solutions that further the capabilities and performance of data products at Primark
  • Develop business capabilities through the production of data products, data models, strategies and roadmaps and associated artefacts
  • Work to ensure Primark’s data governance processes applied to safeguard compliance
  • Enterprise Data Community of Practice setup, including in conjunction with the Data & Analytics team, set a vision for the CoP, design the frequency and types of interactions,
  • Foster engagement and trust within the community, ensure rapid flow of communication and shared awareness
  • Communicate the value of the CoP,
  • Promote and role model the sharing of assets and best practice
  • Identify appropriate formal and informal learning and development interventions to increase community of practice capability, managing training and knowledge management budgets and assuring individual learning and career development plans are in place
  • Manage resource supply including supporting recruitment where there is a shortage of relevant skills

Knowledge & Experience Required:
  • 8+ years information architecture experience & commercial IT change and programme experience, demonstrating proficiency in data analysis, conceptual and logical modelling/design, understanding of the GDPR and regulatory compliance
  • A Bachelor or master’s degree in a quantitative field
  • Experience of industry frameworks and leading practices
  • Knowledge of tools for data architecture design and data modelling
  • Knowledge of ETL/ELT and high scale RDBMS
  • Knowledge of Analytics and BI platforms
  • Previous experience in leading teams & large-scale data warehousing (Teradata is desirable)
  • Embedding new ways of working and cultural changes.
  • Experienced in Agile and Lean Practices and be able to evolve the Information Architecture alongside such agile initiatives
  • Experience in supporting career development and recruitment of Technology professionals
  • Experience of training needs analysis and identifying appropriate training solutions to meet skills gaps
  • Experience of managing and collaborating with vendors
