What You’ll Do as Tax Specialist
We want you to feel challenged and inspired. Here, you’ll develop your skills across a range of responsibilities:
- Support the corporation tax compliance cycle by coordinating information for external advisors, reviewing draft tax returns, preparing required documentation, and assisting the tax manager with final submissions.
- Work closely with Financial Reporting to prepare and review tax charges, disclosures, and statutory accounts, ensuring accurate and compliant tax information across all entities.
- Deliver accurate tax reporting for the shareholder (ABF plc), including budgets, forecasts, and year‑end submissions, while preparing information required by auditors at half‑year and year‑end.
- Manage tax payments and compliance by reviewing and instructing payments to tax authorities, preparing and posting tax-related accruals, and ensuring proper books and records are maintained across jurisdictions.
- Support transfer pricing and international tax compliance by preparing required filings, coordinating documentation, engaging with tax advisors, raising purchase orders, and assisting with tax audits globally.
- Stay informed on tax legislation and maintain strong relationships with tax authorities and advisors to uphold Primark’s reputation and ensure compliance with evolving tax requirements.

What You’ll Bring

- Professional tax and accounting expertise, supported by recognised qualifications (AITI/CTA or equivalent, with ACCA/ACA/CPA desirable) and over three years’ relevant experience, ideally including exposure to the retail sector.
- Exceptional organisation, planning, and prioritisation skills, enabling you to manage multiple deadlines, coordinate complex workloads, and maintain a high standard of accuracy in all tax and financial tasks.
- Strong analytical and data-handling capability, with the ability to work through high volumes of detailed financial information while also stepping back to understand the broader business impact.
- High levels of integrity, discretion, and confidentiality, with sound judgement and professionalism when handling sensitive tax matters and internal information
- Collaborative communication and relationship‑building skills, able to engage confidently across all levels of the business, influence effectively, present complex information clearly, and contribute positively to team culture.
- A proactive, self‑motivated, commercially aware mindset, bringing strong financial acumen, project management skills, emotional intelligence, and a commitment to delivering high‑quality work with a strong work ethic.
