Please note that this role will be offered as a fixed-term contract with a duration of Six (6) months only.

What You’ll Do as a Product Technologist    

In your role, you’ll collaborate with different people across a range of skillsets. Here’s a flavour of your day-to-day:  

• Support delivery of Primark’s Quality Strategy, ensuring products meet customer expectations across food and home categories.
• Ensure all products are safe, legal, and fit for purpose, with strong focus on food safety and compliance standards.
• Review testing results and quality data, making informed commercial decisions aligned with industry standards.
• Take ownership of product approvals, ensuring correct labelling, certification, and traceability before sign-off.
• Conduct risk assessments and benchmarking against competitors to maintain high quality and performance standards.
• Collaborate with buying, compliance, and sourcing teams to resolve quality issues and drive continuous improvement.
• Monitor returns and supplier performance, identifying risks and implementing corrective actions.
• Build strong relationships with suppliers and stakeholders, delivering clear communication, training, and quality guidance.

• Technical Expertise & Compliance Knowledge: Strong understanding of quality standards, legal requirements, and risk assessment for ensuring products are safe, legal and fit for purpose.
• Analytical & Commercial Mindset: Ability to evaluate product testing results, benchmark against competitors, and make commercially sound recommendations in a high-volume retail environment.
• Supplier Engagement & Relationship Building: Proven experience in collaborating with suppliers, sourcing, and ethical teams to drive quality improvements and process efficiencies.
• Communication & Influence Skills: Skilled at influencing stakeholders, delivering impactful presentations, and promoting a culture of continuous improvement across departments.
• Training & Development Focus: Passion for coaching and upskilling teams, improving sampling hit rates, and contributing to Primark Quality Academy initiatives.
• Proactive Problem-Solving: Strong ability to identify emerging trends, resolve quality issues quickly, and implement solutions that enhance customer satisfaction and reduce returns.
