What You’ll Do
The Internal Auditor role at Primark focuses on delivering risk‑based audits that provide independent assurance on the effectiveness of internal controls and governance. The position supports the development of the internal audit function while helping enhance the organisation’s control environment. It offers broad exposure to financial, operational, and regulatory areas, contributing to risk management and alignment with business objectives.
In your role, you’ll collaborate with different people across a range of skillsets. Here’s a flavour of your day-to-day:
- Lead and deliver end‑to‑end, risk‑based audits — from scoping and testing through to exit meetings and final reporting — while keeping the Head of Internal Audit updated.
- Identify control gaps and improvement opportunities, recommending efficient and where appropriate automated solutions to enhance business processes and reduce risk.
- Build strong, trusted relationships with stakeholders across Primark and ABF, influencing them on risk, remediation actions, and best‑practice governance.
- Produce high‑quality reports and working papers, communicate findings to management, and monitor completion of agreed actions and recommendations.
- Contribute to the annual audit plan, support (and at times lead) preparation of quarterly progress reports, and conduct ad‑hoc reviews or investigations as needed.
- Stay up to date with internal audit best practices and emerging technologies, applying this knowledge to deliver insightful, strategically sound recommendations.

What You’ll Bring
We want every person in our organisation to feel like they’re making a key contribution. Here are some of the experiences and skills you’ll need for the role:
- A professional qualification (ACA/ACCA) and solid experience in internal and/or external audit, ideally gained in a Big 4 environment or industry.
- Strong capability in performing process walkthroughs, identifying risks, scoping controls, and applying a risk‑based audit approach with effective testing.
- Excellent communication and report‑writing skills, able to engage diverse stakeholders and deliver clear, concise summaries for senior leaders.
- A curious, self‑driven mindset with strong planning, organisation, and the ability to adapt, multi‑task, and meet deadlines.
- A collaborative, emotionally intelligent team approach, balancing independence with accountability and the confidence to challenge professionally.
- Strong commercial awareness, sound judgement, and high ethical standards, ensuring transparency, trust, and a focus on emerging risks.
