Design at Primark

As a Designer in our Menswear team, you will be accountable for department trend identification and application. Collaborating with fellow product designers across the business you will create fashion forward, commercial and global ranges that identify with the Primark brand. You will promote the delivery of innovative, new product opportunities.
You will work alongside Buying and Merchandising functions to create product that will surprise and delight our customers whilst remaining commercially relevant. You will build effective communication channels with your stakeholders in key range building meetings, ensuring to represent the Design community’s vision and direction.
You will maintain an awareness and understanding of current and evolving social and economic landscapes, with a focus on sustainability.
This role will support product development through the completion of focused technical tasks. You will be responsible for development and allocation of resource and capabilities [internal and external] to meet section/departmental Design requirements.

What You’ll Do
We want you to feel challenged and inspired. Here, you’ll develop your skills across a range of responsibilities:
- Accountable for trend identification and application for departments
- Undertake regular research and competition shopping to inform Design direction and methodically research colour/trend direction and shape
- Through trend research and range content communicate timing of trends for the season
- Recommend trend direction on a regular basis and re-assess seasonal trends and present quick response messages visually
- Responsible for making impactful, commercially viable decisions related to range building for sign off at leadership levels, which support the delivery of successful product ranges.
- Lead manage and mentor a team of Junior Designs to deliver Design application across departments.
- Collaborate with fellow product designers across the business to create strong, fashion forward and commercial global ranges that identifies with the Primark brand.
- Engage with and influence stakeholders in all relevant business areas to deliver commercially successful product ranges for Primark.
What You’ll Bring
We want every person in our organisation to feel like they’re making a key contribution. Here are some of the experiences and skills you’ll need for the role:
- Consistently strong Make Your Primark ratings during your tenure at Assistant level, including a rating of 3 or above in the most recent performance cycle.
- Talent rating endorsement from Line Manager & Leadership Team
- Primark Multicategory/cross departmental experience at Assistant Level is preferential and/or equivalent external experience.
- Proven track record of driving own Personal Development Plan
- A minimum of 3 years' experience at Assistant Level at Primark and/or equivalent experience.
- Has managed Product through the full lifecycle from end to end for a minimum of 2 seasons.
