Merchandising at Primark - help deliver our unique brand of retail by ensuring that the right product is in the right place at the right time!
What you’ll do as a Merchandiser:
As a Merchandiser at Primark, you play a critical role in the delivery of the Product strategy. In partnership with the Buying teams, you will be responsible for building and delivering your section strategy through strong commercial, analytical and influencing skills. You will lead a team of Assistant and Trainee Merchandisers to manage the execution of this strategy through ensuring the right product is in the right place at the right time to maximise sales and profit performance.
You will be an effective communicator, and able influence key stakeholders. You will be responsible for developing and managing trend-led ranges that surprise and delight our customers, that are commercially competitive and that deliver on Primark’s value proposition. While supporting Primark as a global brand, you will also understand our regional customers, and use data and analytics to tailor ranges which will deliver for the different customers in all our global markets.
You will maintain a keen awareness and understanding of current and evolving social and economic landscapes, with a focus on sustainability under Primark Cares as a key strategic pillar for the business.
In your role, you’ll collaborate with different people across a range of skillsets. Here’s a flavour of your day-to-day:
- Leadership & Team Development - Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing, inclusive team; drive engagement, manage change effectively, and foster cross-functional collaboration.
- Commercial Strategy & Market Awareness - Stay informed about market trends and customer behaviours; make data-driven, high-impact commercial decisions to exceed financial targets.
- Strategic Planning & Execution - Build and deliver commercial and regionally relevant ranges; set clear KPIs and guide your team in achieving strategic goals through effective planning and reporting.
- Forecasting, Trading & Performance Management - Own forecasting tools and processes (WSSI, Line Projections, etc.), manage stock targets, respond to trading risks, and make strategic decisions based on data insights.
- Product Expertise & Innovation - Maintain deep product knowledge, analyse trends and customer needs, and drive innovation to deliver value and trend-led, customer-focused ranges.

What You’ll Bring
Here at Primark, we want everyone to feel valued – so please bring your authentic self to work, of course with some other key experience and abilities for this role. The below are essential to apply:
- Consistently strong Make Your Primark ratings during your tenure at Assistant level, including a rating of 4 or above in the most recent performance cycle.
- Consistent and proven track record of meeting all of the milestones of the “What Good Looks Like” Guide relevant to your role.
- Talent rating endorsement from Line Manager & Leadership Team.
- Primark Multicategory/cross departmental experience at Assistant Level is preferential and/or equivalent external experience.
- Proven track record of driving own Personal Development Plan.
- A minimum of 3 years' experience at Assistant Level at Primark and/or equivalent experience.
- Has managed Product through the full lifecycle from end to end for a minimum of 2 seasons.
