What You’ll Do as a Solution Architect Data

We want you to feel challenged and inspired. Here, you’ll develop your skills across a range of responsibilities:

  • Lead the design of end-to-end technical solutions aligned with business needs, enterprise architecture, and domain strategy, ensuring both functional and non-functional requirements are met.
  • Provide architectural governance and oversight, ensuring compliance with standards, design principles, and presenting solutions at architecture forums.
  • Define and document solution architecture (including blueprints, key decisions, and technology choices) while ensuring knowledge is accessible and reusable.
  • Drive solution shaping by evaluating options, defining non-functional requirements (performance, security, scalability), and guiding trade-off decisions with stakeholders.
  • Provide technical leadership across the full lifecycle—from planning and vendor evaluation through to design validation and delivery—ensuring efficient and cost-effective implementation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders (product, engineering, vendors, domain architects) to ensure alignment, manage risks, and support successful delivery and operational readiness.

What You’ll Bring  

Here at Primark, we want everyone to feel valued – so please bring your authentic self to work, of course with some other key experience and abilities for this role in particular:

  • Strong expertise in solution architecture principles and frameworks (e.g., TOGAF), with the ability to design scalable, enterprise-grade data solutions and guide architectural decisions.
  • Hands-on experience designing Databricks Lakehouse architectures, including governance using Unity Catalog, and applying medallion architecture and end-to-end data engineering patterns.
  • Solid data modelling capabilities and experience with data products, data contracts, governance, and ensuring data quality and discoverability.
  • Strong engineering mindset with experience in CI/CD, automation, infrastructure as code, and focus on performance tuning, cost optimisation (including Databricks DBUs), and operational resilience.
  • Deep understanding of data security, compliance, and risk, along with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven experience (8+ years in technology, 5+ years in architecture) delivering enterprise-scale solutions, contributing to architectural governance, and providing technical leadership across teams and stakeholders.
