The purpose of the Environmental Specialist is to assist the business in delivering on all aspects of Extended Producer Responsibility and our wider Environmental compliance agenda across our global operations. Extended Producer Responsibility is a key area of focus for Primark, touching every corner of the business across a multitude of stakeholders. The suitable candidate for this role will hold an essential position in developing the EPR strategy for Primark and the associated materials which are currently in scope (Packaging, Textiles, WEEE & Batteries just to name a few). We proudly operate in 17 countries across Europe and the USA, and we are on an exhilarating growth trajectory, expanding into both new and existing markets making this new and strategic role, crucial in ensuring on-going compliance, budget alignment and opportunity assessments for cost mitigations.

What You’ll Do:

We want you to feel challenged and inspired. Here, you’ll develop your skills across a range of responsibilities:

  1. Support the Group Environmental Sustainability Manager in ensuring that Primark is meeting its global Environmental compliance requirements and reaching best practice in Environmental management where possible
  2. Act as the Subject Matter Expert for all aspects of Primark’s Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) requirements to ensure ongoing compliance
  3. Build an organizational plan to uphold legal compliance and adjust to new legislative requirements by guiding the action plan strategy
  4. Collaborate with stakeholders internally and externally to horizon scan upcoming environmental legislation and Extended Producer Responsibility requirement to ensure business readiness
  5. Manage and continuously improve all aspects of internal environmental auditing for Primark stores, depots and offices

  1. Financial/commercial skill
  2. Have a good working knowledge of relevant environmental practices with a focus on data and energy management
  3. Experience overseeing environmental compliance and Extended Producer Responsibility
  4. Retail or Fast-Moving Consumable Goods experience is beneficial.
  5. Goal-orientated with a clear focus on the delivery of goals, including an ability to provide creative and innovative solutions based on a sound understanding of business requirements
