Technology Assurance Lead

As part of our continuous development, we are expanding our Technology Architecture Department to support, enable and grow our business capabilities.
The Technology GRC Lead will report directly to the Head of Technology Risk & Compliance and lead a small group of internal analysts and partner teams. The role will support the Security & Risk function in delivering its many objectives and obligations ensuring a pro-active approach to supporting Primark Tech in several controls, risk and audit activities including the successful delivery of a yearly IT general controls testing plan and management of internal and external audit programmes.
The Tech GRC Lead will be responsible for resource planning and developing the skills and capabilities required for their team to deliver all required GRC IT General Controls and audit activities as well as delivering their own portfolio of activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leads and manages a portfolio of activities that are the responsibility of the internal analyst team and our 3rd party partners.
- · Support the GRC Managers in developing knowledge of IT General Controls processes and procedures that support the committed deliverables of the team.
- · Support the continuous communication between assurance providers, such as External Audit (EA) and Internal Audit (IA), to ensure a holistic view of IT control activities.
- · Supports the management and coordination of the internal and external auditing process, ensuring multiple audits, happening concurrently, are delivered within the required reporting deadlines.
- · Supports the planning, coordination and testing of IT General Controls required to support management's controls attestations.
- · Contributes effectively to the continuous development of the IT General Controls framework. · Coordinate daily risk management processes including triage of risks raised by the technology function.
- · Support the discovery and baseline of IT dependencies in collaboration with the Internal Controls Team.
- · Coordinates meetings with control owners to review and drive the closure of open audit points and track the remediation of controls issues.
- · Work closely with control owners to improve testing effectiveness.
- · Review, evaluate and document internal controls and design effectiveness testing and assessment.
- · Provide stakeholders with controls test results and resulting action plans.
- · Ensures Primark's technology controls align with the financial controls framework, including monitoring and reporting results and progress updates.
- · Build positive relationships with all audit providers and technology stakeholders.
- · Assist in developing an internal controls culture across Primark Tech.
- · Maintain, configure, and administer the GRC tool when required.
- · Work with broader team to produce reporting packs for various forums as required.
- · Contribute to the overall performance of the business and act as a valuable agent of change within Technology.
- Proven practical experience and knowledge of implementing and improving IT control frameworks, environments and best practice methodologies.
- · Professional experience working in a highly regulated environment.
- · Good understanding of assurance principles and methodologies.
- · Basic understanding of the retail industry
- · Good knowledge of IT governance frameworks, industry standards, and regulatory requirements including Sarbanes Oxley Act and UK Corporate Governance Code (Revised 2024)
- · Proven experience in developing and testing of IT General control environments
- · Experience with COBIT, ISO 27001, NIST, GDPR requirements advantageous.
- · Ability to translate complex regulatory language into clear and actionable IT requirements.
- · Ability to identify and articulate root causes and systemic issues.
- · A demonstrated ability to use positive influencing skills effectively to modify opinions, plans or behaviours.
- · Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate controls effectiveness information to stakeholders at all levels.
- · Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- · Good organisation, prioritisation and rationalisation skills.
- · Strong people management skills, with a desire to support development.
