What You’ll Do as a Technology Controls Manager         

  • In your role, you’ll collaborate with different people across a range of skillsets. Here’s a flavour of your day-to-day:   
  • Lead and coordinate technology assurance activities across internal audit, external audit, and financial controls, ensuring a holistic view of IT control effectiveness and managing audits through their full lifecycle.
  • Plan, track, and communicate assurance timelines to Primark Tech, enabling effective resource planning and providing regular status updates and escalations to Technology Leadership.
  • Own and oversee IT General Controls (ITGCs), including UK ACE SOC ITGC testing, management control attestations, and advising on control design and deployment aligned with risk appetite and regulatory requirements.
  • Support control discovery, dependency mapping, and alignment with the parent company’s financial controls framework, collaborating closely with Internal Controls and reporting outcomes.
  • Drive audit outcomes and continuous improvement, including leading audit status meetings, participating in audit close meetings, tracking actions, and leveraging innovative tools to enhance reporting and remediation effectiveness.
  • Build capability and relationships across Technology, maintaining strong stakeholder engagement, staying current on audit methodologies and regulations, delivering training to management, and acting as a proactive agent of change.  

What You’ll Bring

  • Extensive experience in technology assurance and auditing, with strong knowledge of risk‑based auditing across core IT processes (e.g. access management, change management, IT operations) in large, complex environments.
  • Deep understanding of IT control frameworks, governance, and regulation, including how technology supports financial and operational systems, with awareness of retail industry risks and control requirements.
  • Proven ability to design and deliver technology assurance strategies, aligning audit programs with organisational goals, risk appetite, and regulatory expectations.
  • Strong leadership, influencing, and stakeholder management skills, with a track record of driving change, gaining trust at all levels, and collaborating effectively across cross‑functional teams.
  • Excellent project, communication, and decision‑making capabilities, including planning and delivering audits, presenting complex risk concepts clearly, prioritising workloads, and meeting time‑sensitive deliverables.
  • High personal integrity and problem‑solving mindset, demonstrating sound judgement, ethical standards, commitment to compliance, strong team values, and the ability to coach and train others in assurance and risk management.
