What You’ll Do as a Transformation Lead Technology 

In your role, you’ll collaborate with different people across a range of skillsets. Here’s a flavour of your day-to-day:   

  • Governance & Reporting: Establish and run a high impact Transformation SteerCo (or equivalent) to drive focused Technology Leadership Team engagement, ensure decisive leadership alignment, and provide clear reporting and tracking. 

  • QA & Delivery Oversight: Maintain a portfolio wide view of all transformation initiatives, proactively address at-risk projects, connect cross program interdependencies, shape delivery standards, and challenge scope, sequencing, and approach to maximise outcomes and value. 

  • Team Leadership & Culture: Build and lead a high performing transformation team with clear objectives and structured reviews, while fostering a strong transformation culture and brand as a trusted, high impact partner. 

  • Strategic Alignment: Ensure all transformation initiatives remain closely aligned to business strategy and the technology roadmap, engaging continuously with technology and business leaders to anticipate change and identify strategic opportunities. 

  • Portfolio & Backlog Management: Maintain transparent visibility of the transformation roadmap and backlog, using governance forums (e.g., SteerCo) to prioritise the most strategically critical work. 

  • Benefits Realisation & Financial Integration: Track and report benefits across all active and completed transformation initiatives, embedding realised value into budgets, forecasts, and ongoing financial planning, while acting as a strategic partner to the Technology Leadership Team.

What You’ll Bring

  • Leadership & Influence: Operates as a senior, highly visible leader who co-leads the function, reports to the PDG Director, co-chairs the Tech Transformation Steering Committee, and has strong relationships with senior leaders (e.g., Nigel’s LT). Shapes strategic decisions on what work is prioritised or deprioritised. 

  • Transformation Ownership: Owns the full Transformation portfolio of strategic initiatives, prioritises Tech Transformation pillars with the CIO/TLT (via Quarterly Planning), drives cross-cutting initiatives, and represents Tech in enterprise-wide transformation efforts. 

  • Operating Model Authority: Owns the Technology Operating Model design and partners with P&C to evaluate changes, assess new requests, and ensure alignment with organisational needs. 

  • External Engagement & Advocacy: Attends external conferences both for inspiration and to showcase the Primark story, acting as a visible ambassador for the organisation. 

  • Communication & Facilitation Excellence: Demonstrates exceptional communication, facilitation, presentation, and report writing skills, capable of simplifying complex information for diverse internal and external stakeholders. 

  • Professional Competence & Personal Attributes: Highly organised, detail-oriented, adaptable, commercially minded, and able to manage multiple priorities. Operates with integrity, emotional intelligence, sound judgement, and the ability to work independently or collaboratively while managing sensitive information confidentially.
