What You’ll Do
We want you to feel challenged and inspired. Here, you’ll develop your skills across a range of responsibilities:
- Lead and support the delivery of in-house UK & ROI payroll for over 33,000 colleagues, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing.
- Support and deputise for the Payroll Manager, including payroll sign-off, managing priorities, monitoring deadlines, and mitigating delivery risks.
- Drive high standards across payroll operations by ensuring adherence to company policies, legislative requirements, and Primark payroll rules, including pensions, year-end, and statutory reporting.
- Mentor and develop team members through coaching, training, workload allocation, and leading by example with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Partner cross-functionally with Compliance, Governance, Finance, Global Payroll, and external bodies to deliver reconciliations, third-party payments, and complex correspondence.
- Champion continuous improvement by identifying efficiencies, supporting BAU projects, staying up to date with legislative changes, and embedding Primark behaviours and values.

What You’ll Bring
Here at Primark, we want everyone to feel valued – so please bring your authentic self to work, of course with some other key experience and abilities for this role in particular:
- Significant payroll experience (5+ years, or 2+ years payroll with broader industry experience), with hands-on expertise in SAP Payroll (UK) and/or MegaPay (ROI).
- Strong technical knowledge of payroll operations, including tax regulations, statutory and pension returns, and year‑end processes.
- A proactive, hands-on problem solver who leads by example and maintains deep knowledge of team payrolls and the wider payroll landscape.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, work calmly under pressure, and consistently meet deadlines.
- The confidence to make routine team decisions, recognise escalation points, and see tasks through with minimal supervision while keeping stakeholders informed.
- A collaborative, ethical, and people-focused approach—demonstrating Primark values, clear communication, effective use of Excel/MS tools, and a commitment to developing and supporting others.
