Job Title: Digital Trading Analyst
Reports To: Digital Trading Manager
Location: Reading (Hybrid)
Job-Type: Full-time

Purpose of the Role:
We have an exciting opportunity for a talented Digital Trading Analyst to join our Digital Trading Team. As a Digital Trading Analyst at Primark, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the growth and delivery of our digital trading strategy. You will work closely the Digital Trading Manager to help drive growth in click-and-collect sales. You will also collaborate cross-functionally, helping to support operations and help provide the best possible customer experience. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, tenacious and innovative environment.


As a Digital Trading Analyst, you will take ownership of your own product categories and, together with the Digital Trading Manager, you will use analyses and commercial judgement to ensure stocks are managed effectively. You will ensure strong availability on a wide range of products, whilst closely monitoring and managing stockholding. Working alongside the Digital leadership team and utilising your critical influencing skills, you will be a key contributor within the wider Digital Team but also within the wider business.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Digital Trading Manager in the delivery of stock and sales KPIs
  • Assist with shaping future buying strategies by cross-functionally sharing customer learnings, analyses and findings with our buying and merchandising teams
  • Working alongside our Buying, Merchandising and Design teams, actively get to know the customer profile and consider how to best meet their needs, making informed recommendations and tailoring your ranges appropriately. Ensure to deliver product ranges which are commercially competitive and align with Primark’s value proposition
  • Actively support the buying and merchandising teams in building commercial and strategic product ranges, taking into consideration the key differences between our Digital offering and our Store offering. In doing so, ensure to include a balance of product categories, newness, seasonal, and all other key attributes
  • Manage all activities to include reporting, stock management, line projections, replenishment requirements, options vs plan, stock and clearance
  • Identify styles and stock for clearance, and make recommendations to Digital Trading Manager
  • Update and maintain our live web product offering, ensuring all on-line commercial opportunities are maximised and any risks mitigated
  • Ensure an in-depth understanding of the Digital trading strategy and ensure that all aspects of strategic planning are met through the effective management of all tools and reporting lines (including WSSIs, Line Projections, Option Planning and Budgeting)
  • Ensure cross-functional collaboration with the Digital, Buying and Merchandising teams through regular trading reviews, ensuring to maximise all sale opportunities and shape future ranges
  • Be able to recognise online trading opportunities and actively make recommendations to Digital Trading Manager
  • Be able to identify, manage and ultimately mitigate any trading risks, continuously informing the Digital Trading Manager of any such risks
  • Managing the working relationship with the Logistics and Depot teams, ensuring to keep them updated (as necessary) of any trading actions or activities which may impact their business area
  • Ensure data is accurate at all times and take ownership in resolving any data inaccuracies
  • Be able to identify and report stock overages and shortages against the forecast and budget, and report this information to the Digital leadership team
  • Ensure an accurate record of forward commitment and projected stock levels is maintained
  • Develop a thorough understanding of trade performance, and be able to update Digital leadership team on relevant KPIs and important trading actions
  • Act as the main point-of-contact for Buying and Merchandising teams, providing support on areas such as; required buy levels, sales performance and guidelines around order raising
  • Using analyses and insights, be able to identify future trends and make informed recommendations to the Digital Trading Manager
  • Ensure to drive innovation and maintain commercial awareness, using your in-depth knowledge of customer behaviour to continuously offer outstanding product and value to our customer

Skills & Experience:
  • 3 years’ experience in a Merchandising, Analytical or Finance-related role
  • Relevant qualification in a fashion, analytical or commerce-related subject, or equivalent experience
  • Confident in presenting and articulating insights to the relevant audience in a clear and concise manner
  • Ability to build credible relationships with a range of internal stakeholders
  • A great communicator along with excellent interpersonal and people skills. Someone who can contribute effectively as part of a team and can facilitate smooth interactions between themselves and senior stakeholders cross-functionally
  • Strategic thinker, with strong numerical acumen and the ability to identify commercial opportunities
  • Excellent planning and organisation skills, able to multi-task, plan, work efficiently to meet tight deadlines and prioritise workflow
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, responding to tasks with an efficient, can-do attitude and possesses the ability to adapt to change in line with changing business requirements
  • Naturally collaborative, works well with others to help the team succeed - readily offering idea’s and demonstrating willingness to support
  • Experienced with developing strong and productive working relationships
  • Self-motivated, problem solver and results oriented – Utilises information relevant to own role and makes informed decisions
  • Operates with a high level of integrity, tact and professionalism.
