Ollie attended the Fashion Retail Academy in London. Everything he learned came together when he took a Primark internship. And he hasn’t looked back.
Read moreMeet Andrea. Visual Merchandising Assistant.
I did a degree in Fashion Marketing Management before getting into Visual Merchandising at Primark. I was so excited to get this job. It’s got everything I want from a career.
The right ingredients
So what does it take to get here, you ask? A passion for fashion is a must. The environment is great but it’s very fast-paced, so you’ve got to be comfortable with that too. There’s quite a bit of creative problem solving required and often you’ll need to act straight away. We’re a big team and we all rely on each other. But we’re super passionate and love what we do, so it’s all good pressure as far as we’re concerned.
Make it look amazing
Essentially, it’s my job to make sure the store looks amazing. I look at mannequin styling, the windows, everything that can contribute to an amazing shopping experience for the customer. But of course, it also needs to be in line with the brand. So I have a style guide that I need to follow.
Expect the unexpected
I work in Marble Arch, one of the busier, more fast-paced stores, and I love it. I knew what it was going to be like before I joined so, for me, there are no surprises. Every day, I get to achieve something I’m proud of. Every day, I am able to reflect on how lucky I am to be in a job I love so much. Being in an environment that inspires me and surrounded by a hugely diverse set of colleagues. I feel invested in too; I’m currently training to become a manager and I’m constantly learning. I really can’t ask for more.
Every day is a great day at Primark. I feel like I’m always achieving things that I’m proud of.
Other reasons to join
Your experience at Primark is about so much more than your job. It’s also about our people and our culture. Our beliefs as a business and our aims for the future. It’s about all the exciting, empowering, amazing things that make us who we are – and you who you are.
I always knew I’d leave my home town eventually to explore further afield.
