Packaging Coordinator

What you’ll do:

The packaging coordinator is responsible for supporting the Packaging CoE team to convert packaging to more sustainable alternatives. Ensuring the products packaging is reflecting the Primark Cares packaging under the packaging supplier’s nomination strategy and the packaging Sustainable Guidelines.


Duties and Responsibilities:
  • The role involves the collation and validation of all appropriate packaging sustainability certification/accreditation submitted by the product suppliers and recorded internally.
  • Support the Packaging CoE Team in training and educating the Supply Base in ensuring that the appropriate nominated and preferred packaging suppliers and packaging substrates are used.
  • Building strong relationships with suppliers in the region and potentially other regions as we expand packaging supplier nomination and supporting suppliers and buyers to solve any issues that may arise on adhering to Primark Cares protocols on packaging.
  • Supporting the Packaging CoE team to convert packaging to sustainable alternatives and to support circularity-based product initiatives.
  • Working closely with the Procurement Packaging team on resolving any supplier non-conformance issues as these arise. These may include counterfeit product, buying lower quantity from nominated suppliers than the PO’s raised by the Buyers, sourcing from unauthorised packaging suppliers and other issues that may arise.
  • Be the point of contact from the Supply Base on questions as to where to source from, access to packaging manuals, which packaging to use and other issues as they arise.
  • Building key relationships across the business including Environmental Sustainability, Sourcing, Buying and Merchandising Teams and with our external supply base partners.

Skills and Experience:
  • Passionate about sustainability and our planet and will appreciate the significance of the sustainability movement in the context of the fashion industry.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment and a very strong communicator.
  • Positive, curious with a solution orientated mindset and can work well individually or as part of a team.
  • Effective and inspiring networker with the ability to build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent Excel skills and good experience of other Microsoft Office programmes, for example, PowerPoint, Access, Word, etc.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and oral form.
  • Speak the local language.
  • Self-starter attitude

Qualifications:
  • Experience working with product and packaging manufacturers 2-5 years within the fashion and or similar retail category.
  • Experience driving similar programmes 2-5 years.
  • High School Education as a minimum
