Assistant Designer – Licence Homeware and Beauty

As Assistant Designer, you will work closely alongside Primark’s Lifestyle Buying team playing a key role on Primark Home & Lifestyle team. Working to drive, maximise and leverage licensing opportunities for the department.

Working alongside a Designer, you will collaborate with fellow designers across the business you will create strong, fashion forward, commercial and global license ranges that identify with the Primark brand. This role will require close collaboration with Primark’s Central Licensing team.

As Assistant Designer, you will demonstrate passion, curiosity and interest in License, Home and Lifestyle product. You will predict key trends using the knowledge of top sellers, extensive research and the knowledge of forecasting tools.

You will actively participate in key range building meetings and support product development through the completion of focused technical tasks. You will work within the development process, applying good knowledge of design tools, product qualities and specifications.

You will be responsible for staying ahead of trends, continually research new ideas.

What You’ll Do:
In your role, you’ll collaborate with different people across a range of skillsets. Here’s a flavour of your day-to-day:
  1. Identify emerging trends through extensive research, market insights, key category trends and developments, translating these into potential License opportunities for Primark.
  2. Work with the Designer to make connections between concepts and information to identify trends that will commercially impact on Primark's ranges.
  3. Demonstrate the ability to know when to move onto new trends quickly and communicates this confidently and effectively to influence the relevant audiences.
  4. Use own initiative to filter through information and share new ideas to shape the direction of trends in line with trend stories.
  5. Make suggestions for future ranges based on predicted trends, market insight, past experience, visual merchandising and social media.
  6. Develops own knowledge of ranges by reviewing performance of ranges and styles with Buying and Merchandising teams.
  7. Work with License Manger and Designer to create new and exciting License Concept mood boards and colour palette.
  8. Create and design license home, stationary, tech and beauty ranges using license assets.
  9. Strong Graphic Design and CAD skills required.
  10. Collaborate with Designer and Buying Team to ensure creative vision is executed
  11. Maintain and follow critical path dates
  12. Continually review the range from design to sample stage with Buying
  13. Follow design briefs to ensure focus is maintained on the provided direction in the allocated time
  14. Track and manage design/trend amends, ensuring they are communicated to all parties in a timely manner
  15. Prepare design/trend files for presentations & meetings.
  16. Responsible for design team colour/trend/product admin.

What You’ll Bring

  1. 3-5 years’ experience in a Fashion or Home Retailer/Licensor/Licensee Business
  2. Relevant qualification in fashion design or equivalent experience
  3. Strong working knowledge of Adobe Software including Illustrator and Photoshop.
  4. Have a good level of business acumen, sound common sense and a genuine interest in the retail industry.
  5. Accuracy, attention to detail and a pro-active approach.
  6. Excellent planning, organising and co-ordinating skills.
