As Senior Legal Counsel at Primark, you will operate at a strategic level, partnering
with key stakeholders with responsibility for managing both non-contentious and
contentious IP issues globally. As part of the Primark Global Legal Team, you will
work closely with senior leadership teams and otherwise across all levels of the
organisation. You will provide commercially pragmatic advice on a broad spectrum.
of IP related issues with the opportunity to influence strategic and operational decision
making across the business. In doing so you will actively contribute to the ongoing
success of the business.

What You’ll Do:
In your role, you’ll collaborate with different people across a range of skillsets. Here’s a flavour of your day-to-day:
- You will be responsible for driving a robust brand protection strategy for our brand and protecting our associated portfolio of trademark rights globally in line with our ambitious growth plans.
- You will have lead responsibility for all aspects of IP search and clearance across the portfolio, together with any associated IP disputes and litigation arising from the protection of the brand and products globally.
- You will support the development and implementation of IP strategy to effectively manage existing and emerging risks in line with the organisation's overall business strategy.
- You will deliver and embed the IP training and reporting strategy.
- You will provide rigorous, proactive and commercially sensible legal advice, guidance, and counsel to key stakeholders within the business, build trusted and collaborative relationships, establishing yourself as the go-to contact for all IP related issues.
- You will work with and develop a high-performing team with specific responsibility for managing two paralegals and support in developing the operational effectiveness of that team.
- You will manage external legal counsel, ensuring maximum value for the Primark business.
- You will provide general support on brand and licensing agreements.
What You’ll Bring

- You are a qualified Solicitor with 7-10 years PQE. You will have experience in private practice in Ireland or the UK.
- You will bring extensive IP experience in the contentious and non-contentious space with a particular focus on trademarks, copyright, and designs, and managing complex IP litigation globally.
- Experience managing a complex trademark portfolio is highly preferred. International experience and experience working in the fashion and/or retail sectors is a plus.
- You will have the ability to prepare a legal strategy, lead negotiations and navigate through complex issues, applying a rigorous legal interpretation without compromising the business.
- You will be commercial, assertive, and diplomatic, with persuasive communication and stakeholder management skills.
- You will have a strong work ethic and are very comfortable working in a dynamic environment.
- You will be a team player with well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
