What You’ll Do as Financial Reporting Manager

In your role, you’ll collaborate with different people across a range of skillsets. Here’s a flavour of your day-to-day:  

  • Lead and manage the GBS team responsible for preparing and analysing periodic financial and management accounts, with a strong focus on store occupancy costs and capital projects.
  • Ensure compliance with property accounting standards across all operating countries, adhering to local GAAP and IFRS requirements, and provide technical guidance on property transactions for the Primark Group.
  • Drive process improvements and efficiencies by reviewing periodic processes, implementing automation opportunities, and strengthening internal controls.
  • Oversee statutory reporting and audits, including preparation of statutory accounts for multiple international entities, acting as the key liaison with audit teams and advisors to ensure timely and accurate completion of obligations.
  • Manage property-related financial activities, including investment property portfolio oversight, NBV reviews for capital projects, and assessment of accelerated depreciation or impairment indicators.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders (Commercial Property, Tax, Store Development, FP&A) to align accounting practices with business objectives, provide technical accounting advice, and support ABF reporting requirements and other ad hoc projects.

What You’ll Bring  

Here at Primark, we want everyone to feel valued – so please bring your authentic self to work, of course with some other key experience and abilities for this role in particular: 

  • Qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CPA or equivalent) with 5+ years post-qualification experience; Big 4 background combined with industry experience preferred.
  • Strong technical expertise in property accounting and capital projects; prior property experience is an advantage.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels across the business.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, capable of managing multiple priorities under pressure while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
  • Advanced analytical and commercial acumen, able to interrogate large data sets, identify trends, and provide strategic insights while keeping a high-level control focus.
  • Proficient in MS Office (especially Excel); experience with Oracle Financials, Excel4apps, Asset Wizard, and Cognos is desirable.
