As a multi-national retailer that uses a variety of raw materials – such as cotton – we recognise the important role that biodiversity & nature play in supporting the ecosystem services that business relies upon. Given our reliance on nature, in addition to the emergence of key reporting frameworks, we are seeking to hire a new role that will lead the strategic development and delivery of our activities related to Primark’s biodiversity programme. This effort will engage across our enterprise and supply chain, and work with critical external stakeholders to lead change.

What You’ll Do:
In your role, you’ll collaborate with different people across a range of skillsets. Here’s a flavour of your day-to-day:
  • Responsible for leading the development and implementation of the biodiversity strategy across the Primark enterprise, inclusive of clear targets, KPI and metrics.
  • Responsible for leading the revision of the biodiversity strategy, as needed.
  • Responsible for developing and deploying the Biodiversity Management Programme in Primark own operations.
  • Responsible for developing and deploying the Biodiversity Management Programme in Primark supply chain.
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of a robust, science-based biodiversity monitoring programme, using industry-led data & best practice tools.
  • Maintain a strong perspective of biodiversity-centric innovations, to support monitoring.
  • Responsible for tracking and reporting programme performance against defined objectives, and in accordance with relevant reporting frameworks (such as SBTN, TNFD, CRSD).
  • Evaluates supplier/facility performance against defined biodiversity KPIs and associated proxy metrics.


What You’ll Bring
Here at Primark, we want everyone to feel valued – so please bring your authentic self to work, of course with some other key experience and abilities for this role in particular:
  • Relevant professional certification (CEnv, CIEEM, or CEcol) preferred, but can be worked towards in role if not yet achieved.
  • Subject Matter Expert in Biodiversity, Land Use, Ecology
  • Experience in assessing corporate impacts and dependencies on nature.
  • Experience establishing sustainability commitments, targets and KPIs, ideally with a focus on nature.
  • Knowledge of existing / in development frameworks (SBTN, TNFD, GRI and tools such as IBAT/STAR), being capable of setting up report content to deliver against them.
  • Understanding of regenerative agricultural practices
  • Extensive, proven experience establishing sustainability programmes within a global business, with experience of driving initiatives across supply chains preferred.
  • A collaborative enterprise-wide thinker who’s accustomed to designing and embedding change in large-scale organisations
  • Subject Matter Expert in Biodiversity, Land Use, Ecology, Forestry Management and Nature Conservation.
  • Comfortable in travelling to key sourcing regions where required
