Primark’s environmental sustainability programme is a critical strategic priority for the business. From our focus on carbon, water and chemistry, to our work on circularity, biodiversity and environmental compliance, the global environmental team plays a vital role in delivering impact across many areas and for making progress against a number of external targets that support the sustainable growth of our company.

Reporting directly into our Head of Environmental Sustainability, this new role will take responsibility for developing and managing approaches that will strengthen – and shape – the strategic direction, management, deployment and performance of the environmental programme on a global level.

What You’ll Do:
In your role, you’ll collaborate with different people across a range of skillsets. Here’s a flavour of your day-to-day:
  • Responsible for leading the development and maintenance of global thematic workplans across all environmental topics, aligning them to relevant corporate reporting frameworks
  • Actively influence the direction and impact of the overall Environmental Strategy by identifying and elevating key thematic developments, influential headwinds and through use of data-driven indicators
  • Work cross-thematically to identify and oversee the collection and analysis of internally generated data to support programme learning, development, impact measurement and reporting
  • Take ownership of the Quarterly Team Meeting and our monthly global team meetings; shaping their structure, value, and management to enhance strategic impact
  • Proactively and regularly liaise with in-country environmental sustainability teams to review and support progress, acting as key point of contact
  • Define the cross-thematic training needs of internal teams and supply chain partners, and facilitate the creation of an appropriate capability building programme that will support integration and delivery of the environmental strategy
  • Leads the development, management and integration of key cross-cutting strategies, such as our environmental compliance and factory improvement programmes
  • Lead the development and management of an approach that allows the progress and impact of the environmental strategy to be tracked and reported (internally and externally)

What You’ll Bring
Here at Primark, we want everyone to feel valued – so please bring your authentic self to work, of course with some other key experience and abilities for this role in particular:
  • Minimum of 10 years’ relevant professional experience.
  • Extensive, proven experience establishing and managing programmes, ideally within a global business or other large organisation and focused on sustainability
  • Demonstrable programme and project management expertise
  • Extensive experience of developing senior business relationships, shaping business strategies and managing associated cultural change - excellent communicator and influencer
