Ollie attended the Fashion Retail Academy in London. Everything he learned came together when he took a Primark internship. And he hasn’t looked back.

I started back in March 2014 as a weekend Retail Assistant and progressed to a weekend Supervisor after 6 months. I had two girls I was looking after at the time which is why I worked weekends as this worked better for me. Now, I take care of womenswear in the Stratford Westfield branch.
A busy energy
The energy here at Primark is really special. I’ve always loved working with people, but the busy environment is unlike any other. And I’ll never forget my interview. It was my first ever one; all I knew was to dress smartly. They made me feel so comfortable. I never applied for any other job. I didn’t want any other job. I knew Primark was for me.
Always progressing
There’s a clear path here and your personal circumstances don’t need to get in the way. I have two beautiful daughters who have been my priority. Because of that, I wasn’t able to be fully flexible at work. But Primark gets that. And I still know I’ll become a store manager in the next few years. I’ve had a lot of training, invaluable feedback from managers and fantastic support. I’ve also had time off for parents’ evenings and school runs. It makes a big difference.
Always achieving
I’ve always been a very organised person, so the first thing I do in the morning is plan my day. I thrive on routine, but we’ve recently been introducing new ways of working across all our stores. It’s been such an exciting challenge implementing these changes and the best part? I’ve been the one training our managers, supervisors and colleagues at Stratford in these new ways. Quite a big responsibility but one that I fully embraced and enjoyed. We even got 100% sign off in the end. A fantastic result.
You’ll need people skills, positivity and energy to succeed here.
Time goes fast when you’re having fun
In a few years, I’d like to take the next step up to Assistant Manager. It would be a challenge, as I’d be managing other managers – which is a slightly different ballgame. I've only been a manager for eight months and it's been fast, I've already done so much and going that step further to Assistant Manager means I’d be able to take on even more responsibility.
Other reasons to join
Your experience at Primark is about so much more than your job. It’s also about our people and our culture. Our beliefs as a business and our aims for the future. It’s about all the exciting, empowering, amazing things that make us who we are – and you who you are.
I always knew I’d leave my home town eventually to explore further afield.
