Meet Susan. Assistant Technologist.

I’ve always worked in fashion. Before Primark, I was with a small, sustainable label in Cardiff. But I wanted to move somewhere new. I’ve always lived at home, so starting a new chapter in a new city felt like something I had to do. I love Dublin, it’s such a friendly city and the support I’ve had coming here has been nothing short of incredible.

Learning on the job

There’s a lot of information to take in, but I feel like I’ve been given a lot of space to absorb it. We have lots of training sessions, but I think most of the learning I’ve done has been on the job. Our weekly technologist meetings are really helpful for discussing projects and sharing tips and advice. We do regular fit sessions on live models and frequent floor walks instore to look at how the product is set up and delivered to customers. Being able to see it from their point of view is really beneficial.

Every question is welcome

We are encouraged to ask questions, no matter how silly we think they might be. That attitude helped me get comfortable in my new environment quite quickly. It’s a supportive, open company. The kind of place where you might share a coffee in the cafeteria with a Director and not even realise it! Everyone is really relaxed. For a newcomer like myself, it has made my life so much easier.

Primark’s got talent

I joined around Christmas time and was really surprised to discover that every year we put on a talent competition called Primark’s Got Talent. People across the departments take it really seriously and use it as an opportunity to showcase their ideas, imagination and creativity. A lot of time and effort is invested, and I found it really fun. Yes, I was a little taken aback at first. But I loved the atmosphere and energy around it. It was a great sign of things to come.

Everyone’s always going that extra mile. Pushing to make things even better for the customer.

Other reasons to join

Your experience at Primark is about so much more than your job. It’s also about our people and our culture. Our beliefs as a business and our aims for the future. It’s about all the exciting, empowering, amazing things that make us who we are – and you who you are.

Ollie attended the Fashion Retail Academy in London. Everything he learned came together when he took a Primark internship. And he hasn’t looked back.
