What You’ll Do as Finance Manager – Technical Accounting & Policy
In your role, you’ll collaborate with different people across a range of skillsets. Here’s a flavour of your day-to-day:
- Technical Accounting Leadership: Act as the centre of excellence for technical accounting, advising Finance and the wider business on complex transactions and emerging issues to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Policy Ownership & Compliance: Maintain and update accounting policy papers, lead best-practice reviews, implement process improvements, and ensure alignment with auditor expectations.
- Complex Reviews & Standards Implementation: Lead impairment reviews, manage a repository of judgemental and technical matters, and oversee implementation of new accounting standards (e.g., IFRS 18) in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Financial Reporting Support: Assist in statutory financial statement preparation and work closely with tax, treasury, FP&A, and external reporting teams to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with ABF Group Finance and external auditors, providing expert guidance on technical issues and policy changes.
- Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing: Foster teamwork across Finance, promoting alignment and sharing expertise on technical accounting matters to strengthen overall capability.

What You’ll Bring
Here at Primark, we want everyone to feel valued – so please bring your authentic self to work, of course with some other key experience and abilities for this role in particular:
- Professional Certification: Holds a recognized accounting qualification (ACCA, ACA, CPA or equivalent).
- Technical Expertise: 5 - 7+ years of experience in financial and external reporting with deep knowledge of accounting standards.
- Policy & Change Management: Proven ability to draft high-quality accounting policies and position papers and implement accounting changes effectively.
- Commercial & Communication Skills: Strong commercial awareness with the ability to clearly communicate complex technical issues to diverse stakeholders.
- Organizational Strengths: Excellent planning, prioritization, and multitasking skills to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Professional Attributes: Demonstrates initiative, integrity, and professionalism while fostering collaboration and teamwork.
