What You’ll Do as a Platform Owner – Public Cloud

We want you to feel challenged and inspired. Here, you’ll develop your skills across a range of responsibilities:

  • Lead the Cloud Engineering & Operations function in partnership with Primark’s technology partners, delivering new platform capabilities and self‑service cloud services that enable product teams to deliver value at speed
  • Establish and oversee governance frameworks covering financial management, security operations, deployment best practices, and policy compliance.
  • Define and enforce quality standards, service‑transition rigour, and security compliance to enhance operational performance across metrics such as availability, workload utilisation, and SLA adherence.
  • Serve as a senior technical leader, setting technical direction, resolving escalations, and clearly communicating complex technical matters to senior stakeholders.
  • Manage key stakeholder expectations while ensuring the timely and high‑quality delivery of team priorities and cloud platform roadmaps.
  • Coach, mentor, and line‑manage cloud engineering talent (internal and partner teams), while fostering accountability, continuous improvement, and alignment with Primark’s engineering strategy.

What You’ll Bring

Here at Primark, we want everyone to feel valued so please bring your authentic self to work, of course with some other key experience and abilities for this role in particular:

  • Proven leadership experience (8+ years) in Cloud and/or SRE functions, with deep expertise in Microsoft Azure, cloud service models (PaaS, Serverless, Containers), and Infrastructure‑as‑Code governance.
  • Strong technical capability in designing and delivering scalable, fault‑tolerant, secure cloud systems, supported by observability, logging, and monitoring best practices.
  • Solid understanding of security operational frameworks, financial management (budgeting, forecasting), and enterprise‑grade operational processes.
  • Hands‑on experience with Terraform (desirable) and exposure to additional cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and collaborate with diverse engineering teams—including third‑party partners while advocating for DevOps, Agile, Lean, CI/CD, and modern engineering practices.
  • Highly organised, strategic, and visionary technologist who can identify emerging technologies, translate them into business value, and bring teams along through strong interpersonal, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
