In this role, you will provide strong management direction for the Compliance function with a specific focus on Environmental and Social Regulations. The role requires technical expertise, coupled with an articulate, commercially aware professional who has a keen interest and passion for regulatory compliance.

The successful candidate will be an innovative thinker, with experience developing, embedding, and enhancing policy and procedural changes to ensure compliance across all areas of responsibility. This exciting position will see a suitable candidate supporting Primark in meeting its strategic objectives and compliance expectations by demonstrating a drive to achieve best practice. What You’ll Do:
In your role, you’ll collaborate with different people across a range of skillsets. Here’s a flavour of your day-to-day:
  • You will ensure legislative policies, procedures, and delivery of work are accurately implemented and followed to demonstrate regulatory compliance with Primark’s environmental and social regulations.
  • You will support in the development and reporting on the annual programme for E&S compliance.
  • You will advise on the compliance requirements and operationalisation of controls for relevant environmental and social regulations and directives, i.e., EU Green Deal.
  • You will design and develop necessary policy and procedural changes to support operationalisation of obligations.
  • You will undertake compliance reviews of applicable regulations, acquiring evidence of compliance, ensuring that they are in line with policy, whilst working with internal partners on any areas of non-compliance and generating regular and routine reports on the same to management.
  • You will co-ordinate compliance in relation to products, strategies and operational processes and procedures, working with partners and management.
  • You will operate as a trusted advisor to the business. Establish effective business relationships and maintain knowledge of operating procedures.

What You’ll Bring
Here at Primark, we want everyone to feel valued – so please bring your authentic self to work, of course with some other key experience and abilities for this role in particular:
  • You will have a minimum of 7 years’ experience working in a compliance/ regulatory/ risk/ second line function, with a focus on ESG.
  • You will have experience of interpreting and applying legislation or regulation within a company context and partnering with the first line to design and implement controls.
  • You will bring knowledge and a history of conducting root cause analysis, investigations and/or auditing.
  • You will have previous experience of supporting work in relation to regulators, external auditors and inspectors is desirable.
  • You will bring prior experience of navigating complex multi-stakeholder environments, whilst demonstrating strong interpersonal skills and generating ‘buy-in’ from all stakeholder groups.
  • You have a good understanding of organisational dynamics and business process and policies. A working knowledge of business processes and key risks in a fast-paced commercial environment.
