We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Senior ESG Finance Manager to join our Primark Finance Transformation team. This new and exciting role is critical in the planned expansion of our business. In this role, you will support and partner with the business in developing processes and ways of working, drive the annual ESG reporting to our parent company, alongside managing an efficient, high-achieving team.

The Senior ESG Finance Manager is responsible for ensuring Finance readiness for current and future non-financial information reporting obligations and for managing the reporting and review process for finance lead Primark ESG reporting to internal and external stakeholders. This is a key role within the Finance team to partner with the business on our Primark Cares strategy and with other business teams to improve processes, controls, methodology documentation, assurance readiness, quality of data and collation of information in relation to non-financial reporting.

The successful candidate will be an innovative thinker, with experience developing and implementing successful processes. You are most likely an experienced Accounting professional who has worked in a similar field; an individual with strong commercial awareness, exceptional technical knowledge and superb communication skills.

What You’ll Do:
In your role, you’ll collaborate with different people across a range of skillsets. Here’s a flavour of your day-to-day:
  • Responsible for the annual ESG reporting processes to ABF (our parent company) as part of investor annual and financial processes, ensuring completion of internal review and external assurance where relevant. Act as main point of contact for ABF from Finance for ESG reporting.
  • Support and partner with the business in developing ways of working and processes to ensure Primark meets any current and future regulatory ESG reporting requirements, and to ensure readiness for external assurance requirements.
  • Lead a high performing ESG Finance team and build relationships with key stakeholders within Primark and ABF to drive the success of the Finance ESG function including the Primark Cares team, Communications, Ethical Trade, Quality, Buying, Legal, Health & Safety. Finance and Supply Chain.
  • Develop a longer-term assurance (internal and external) strategy for Primark’s metrics and reports across the relevant ESG landscape within the Primark and ABF ESG framework and lead the management of relationships with any external assurance providers.
  • Working alongside Technology and Transformation teams in Primark to develop and implement robust technology solutions for maintaining consistent and accurate reporting on ESG KPIs and metrics. This includes being a key senior stakeholder driving the implementation of a business wide reporting and data management tool and process improvement initiatives to simplify and automate processes for data collection and reporting.
  • Improve and build on our evolving finance strategy for non-financial information to ensure Primark is meeting existing regulatory and legal obligations, and ensure we have the relevant processes, people and systems in place to support future reporting obligations such as CSRD.
  • Education of finance and wider teams on evolving ESG related obligations, standards and frameworks to raise awareness and promote collaboration.
  • Be a key senior stakeholder in various Primark Governance Forums relating to non-financial reporting and Primark Cares.

What You’ll Bring

  • Educated to degree level +
  • 7+ years PQE having worked in finance and/or reporting roles and in a people management role.
  • Accounting qualification (ACCA, ACA, CIMA, CPA or equivalent) or other professional qualification
  • Technical knowledge and experience with external reporting standards and the wider ESG regulatory landscape trends including Corporate Sustainable Reporting Directive, Task Force on Climate-Related Disclosures, International Sustainability Standards Board etc strongly preferred.
  • Previous experience working in a finance function and implementing a significant accounting disclosure or regulatory reporting change an advantage.
  • Exceptional engagement and communication skills, with proven ability in developing effective working relationships
  • Strong commercial awareness and strategic mind-set,
  • Effective and persuasive presentation skills, including the ability to present complex information in an understandable manner to all areas of the business.
  • Demonstrates leadership skills with the ability to inspire, lead, coach, build & deliver through high performing teams.
  • A process-oriented individual, with a logical mind-set
  • Possesses strong financial and analytical acumen.
  • Proven experience working in a large organisation with multi-currency and multi-national exposure.
