Inbound Destination Operations Manager

Location: Dublin or Reading
Reporting to: Inbound Operations Manager

You will be managing freight operations from a defined origin region to all destination markets.

What You’ll Do:
In your role, you’ll collaborate with different people across a range of skillsets. Here’s a flavour of your day-to-day:
  • Manage the performance of the inbound supply chain freight operation from a defined regional area to all destination markets across Europe and US.
  • Managing multiple service providers across all modes of transportation aka freight including ocean, air, rail and road (3PL and 4PL)
  • Delivering operational change across all relevant service providers as Primark rolls out its new direct freight procurement model with multiple contracted partners.
  • Managing performance and operational relationships at key account manager level across UK, Europe and Asia
  • Delivering business intelligence and consistent, timely and effective management information to the business aimed at driving efficiency and cost saving
  • Finding and delivering any continuous improvement initiatives and opportunities.
  • Own and maintain standard operating procedures across all modes of operation.
  • To design and transform performance KPI’s enabling to drive Primark service providers performance
  • Own and monitor the agreed KPIs both internal and external ensuring we maintain the highest level of OTIF performance
  • Lead all operational reviews with all relevant service providers which could be weekly/monthly/quarterly
  • Manage your part of the overall operating budget, (sea, air, road & rail) through controlling the efficient spend of standard costs and managing all exceptional costs such as demurrage, detention and storage.
  • Working seamlessly with the destinations operations manager when shipments are available for delivery to final destination depot


What You’ll Bring

  • Experience working in a retail or FMCG focused head office environment highly desirable
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills (particularly Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Excellent organisational, prioritisation and time management skills
  • Ability to review and design new process that will deliver beneficial change
  • Strong operational experience within a Global freight operationsenvironment with a minimum 3 - 5 years in a relevant field
  • Excellent and up to date knowledge of global shipping networks and lead-times
  • Excellent knowledge of international transportation processes eg: shipping line booking process, airfreight pricing models and all associated documentation
  • A proven track record in improving performance within previous operations that you have managed
  • Excellent planning skills and be able to think months ahead of time.
  • Experience of large multi-site / network operations
