meet nigel, one of our retail Assistants
What makes life here so different? It must be the people – our focus on putting the customer first means we've cultivated some pretty special relationships. I’ve always believed that one good deed sparks another, and a good attitude is infectious. You can really see that in action here! When a customer feels loved, they love you right back.
Nothing Stops Me!
I have a disability called Hemiplegia, but I never think about it when I’m working. And other than regularly checking in with me, neither does Primark. The atmosphere's great here – I’ve always felt rewarded for my hard work with amazing opportunities. And every day's different. One Christmas, I found myself helping print t-shirts for customers. Another time, a manager approached me to help sell Bluetooth speakers in-store. It makes me feel good when I’m asked to take on different challenges like this because I appreciate my efforts being recognised.
They Call Me the Comedian.
The secret to a happy life? Try to get on with everyone. I think of myself as a really positive person, which I feel is an important quality to have, not only here but in life. It doesn’t matter what background you come from, or what disabilities you live with, if you present yourself well, you’ll be accepted. Be yourself, outgoing, punctual, always tell the truth and never put yourself down. You can literally do everything – but remember not to take yourself too seriously. Take it from the comedian himself!
