My Story as a Visual Merchandising Manager – Renée Martens Dorssers
My Primark journey began in 2014, when I started at Primark Venlo as a Visual Merchandiser. My passion truly lies in shaping stores, bringing trends to life, and creating inspiration for our customers. That passion helped me grow into my current role as Visual Merchandising Manager in Eindhoven in 2018 – and I’m still learning and developing every single day.
Over the past years, I’ve had the opportunity to work on many projects, including 15 store openings in the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany, as well as a collaboration as a stylist for LINDA.tv. I’ve also worked closely with our Visual Merchandising Country Manager, supporting as Visual Merchandising Manager Netherlands, where I guided and coached seven stores. In addition, I’ve had a fantastic partnership with SBB, which has enabled us to train Visual Merchandising interns.
What do I see as the most important part of my role?
For me, it's mostly about working together. In my role as Visual Merchandising Manager, I see myself as the bridge between Visual Merchandising and commercial: two worlds that strengthen each other when they truly understand one another. Connecting and collaborating is the KEY!
What motivates me the most in my work?
The best part is seeing customers get excited about buying something and being able to see that reflected directly in the results. No day is the same, and that keeps me sharp and energized.
What have I learned or discovered during my work?
Switching quickly, setting priorities, and thinking in solutions are skills I’ve greatly developed over the years and continue to grow in every day. Collaborating with your store management, your own team, and all other colleagues is, of course, the most important thing of all.
