What You’ll Do as a Technical Accounting & External Reporting Compliance Senior Manager
In your role, you’ll collaborate with different people across a range of skillsets. Here’s a flavour of your day-to-day:
  • Responsibility for the management of two teams, Statutory External Reporting & Compliance and Technical Accounting made up by 7 people in total.
  • Ownership of the Technical Accounting Centre of Excellence, delivering a high-quality advisory service to the business on technical accounting matters.
  • Delivery, in a timely manner, of all statutory accounts and related compliance for the Primark Group
  • Full ownership of the 31st of August close processes, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of the close process
  • Work with external auditors, local advisors and other key stakeholders to plan and co-ordinate the external audit from a statutory perspective, ensuring timely delivery from Primark, one of the key points of contact for the external audit partner.
  • Strong focus on statutory compliance with responsibility for all external reporting requirements for Primark entities.
  • Responsible for Primark accounting policies and monitoring changes to the accounting standards and financial reporting developments
  • Working closely with other functions such as FP&A, tax, business partnering, legal & treasury.
  • Maintain strong channels of communication with senior finance leaders, including the CFO.
  • Strong working relationship with ABF financial controller & ABF Group Accountant
  • Develop key relationships with other complex areas of Finance such as Treasury and Tax.

What You’ll Bring

  • Educated to degree level +
  • 7+ years having worked in finance and/or reporting roles and in a people management role.
  • Accounting qualification (ACCA, ACA, CIMA, CPA or equivalent) or other professional qualification an advantage.
  • Deep understanding of relevant accounting standards in particular those of most relevance to Primark. Staying up to date on new accounting pronouncements and their potential impact.
  • Technical knowledge and experience with external reporting standards.
  • Driven to achieve results and consistently meets or exceeds management objectives.
  • Takes ownership for driving change and maintaining high standards of performance.
  • Inspires and motivates teams to achieve high performance and exceed expectations.
  • Clear, concise, and persuasive communication skills.
  • Expertise in gathering and analysing information from diverse sources to develop effective solutions that meet business needs. To be able to consider different perspectives.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong working relationships at all levels, including senior leaders.
